Classification of hazardous and dangerous substances for supply

Schedule 1 of CHIP 2 provides a list of the types of danger from chemicals met in the workplace. To each type of danger is given a symbol letter that can be used on labels and warning signs. 

In addition, each of the symbol letters has an equivalent warning symbol 

There are no symbols for dangers from substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction. 

Pesticides are not given separate designatory letters or symbols but must be classified as either very toxic, toxic or harmful, as determined by tests outlined in the Regulations. 

The designatory letter and symbol must be displayed on the labels of the packaging of substances dangerous for supply.
