Chromosome-specific linkage maps

Genetic linkage maps show the relative locations of specific markers along a chromosome. A marker may be related to a trait, such as the Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms and specific DNA sequences, called sequence-tagged sites, are markers that make it possible to identify persons with a specific disease. [Pg.9]
