Chromium carbide is important in powder preparations designed for thermal spray apphcations of corrosion and wear-resistant coatings on tool and machine parts. Lower carbon carbides of chromium are important in hardfacing tods and electrodes for weld-apphed ovedays on machine wear surfaces.
