Christian, Samuel

Christian Samuel Weiss (1780-1856) and Friedrich Karl Mohs (1773-1839) derive the six different crystal form classes cubic, orthorhombic, rhomboidal, hexagonal, monoclinic, and triclinic. 

With this background, together with the knowledge about the seven crystal systems (Christian Samuel Weiss, 1815), the recognition of isomorphy and polymorphy (Mit-scherlich, 1819,1824), and the triad rule of chemical elements (Dbbereiner, 1829), Gustav Rose (1798-1873) developed a chemical-morphological mineral system (Berlin, 1838, 1852), which looks quite modern, even today ... 

Christian et al. refers to Dr. Samuel Christian and his associates at the University of Alabama in Birmingham s Neurosciences Program in 1975 they identified DMT, 5-methoxy-DMT, 5-methoxy-N,N-DMT, N-methyltryptamine and tryptamine in human cerebrospinal fluid. In May 1977, Dr. Wolfgang Vogel of the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia isolated 5-methoxy-DMT in brain tissue the Christian team also found DMT there. 

The names of authors are best preserved in abstracts exactly as printed in the original communications. The Chemical Society of London has (1933) dropped its old custom of printing each author s name in full, and uses Christian names only where confusion is likely to arise—as between Sibelius Smith and Samuel Smith. The innovation practiced by Chemical Abstracts of including the addresses of authors has much to commend it.
