Chiral asymmetric ligands

The complexes with chiral asymmetric ligands [186] are used for catalytic enantioselec-tive olefin hydrogenation. [Pg.460]

Asymmetric allylation of carbon nucleophiles has been carried out extensively using Pd catalysts coordinated by various chiral phosphine ligands and even with nitrogen ligands, and ee > 90% has been achieved in several cases. However, in most cases, a high ee has been achieved only with the l,3-diaryl-substitiitcd allylic compounds 217, and the synthetic usefulness of the reaction is limited. Therefore, only references are cited[24,133]. [Pg.319]

Significant advance in the field of asymmetric catalysis was also achieved with the preparation of l,2-bis(phospholano)benzene (DuPHOS 4) and its confor-mationally flexible derivative (l,2-bis(phospholano)ethane, known as BPE) by Burk et al. [59]. Two main distinctive features embodied by these Hgands, as compared to other known chiral diphosphine ligands, are the electron-rich character of the phosphorus atoms on the one hand and the pseudo-chirality at phosphorus atoms, on the other. These properties are responsible for both the high activity of the corresponding metal complex and an enantioselection indepen-... [Pg.8]

In a very recent work, the Pd-catalysed cross-coupling reactions with arenediazonium salts under aerobic conditions in the presence of a chiral monothiourea ligand were reported (Scheme 25) [106]. Even if this Hgand bears four chiral centres, no test in asymmetric Heck-type reaction has been described so far. [Pg.248]

Abstract In general, asymmetric catalysts are based on the combination of a chiral organic ligand and a metal ion. Here we show that future research should also focus on complexes in which the chirality resides only at the metal center, as the result of a given topology of coordination of achiral ligands to the metal ion. Here we make a brief presentation of the methods available for preparing such compounds as well as the very few examples of enantioselective reactions catalyzed by chiral-at-metal complexes. [Pg.271]

An iron complex-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation of ketones was achieved by using chiral phosphoms ligands [68]. Among various ligands, the best enantios-electivities (up to 99% ee) were obtained using a combination of Fe(OAc)2/(5,5)-Me-Duphos in THF. This hydrosilylation works smoothly in other solvents (diethylether, n-hexane, dichloromethane, and toluene), but other iron sources are not effective. Surprisingly, this Fe catalyst (45% ee) was more efficient in the asymmetric hydrosilylation of cyclohexylmethylketone, a substrate that proved to be problematic in hydrosilylations using Ru [69] or Ti [70] catalysts (43 and 23% ee, respectively). [Pg.48]

The Rh-catalysed asymmetric hydrosilylation of prochiral ketones has been studied with complexes bearing monodentate or heteroatom functionalised NHC ligands. For example, complexes of the type [RhCl(l,5-cod)(NHC)] and [RhL(l,5-cod)(NHC)][SbFg ], 70, where L = isoquinoline, 3,5-lutidine and NHC are the chiral monodentate ligands 71 (Fig. 2.11). [Pg.37]

Asymmetric versions of this transformation were also developed by using chiral imidazolium pro-ligands as NHC precursors, or silver transmetallation methodology with chiral NHC ligands (Fig. 2.23) [106]. Imidazolium salts with chiral A-substituents (132) or imidazolidinium salts with chirality at the backbone of the heterocycle (133) gave quantitative conversions at -78°C with good ee (58% and 70% respectively). [Pg.54]

An extension of the asymmetric condensation of organometallics onto aldehydes is the enantioselective silver-promoted allylation reaction of aldehydes with allyltributyltin, which has recently been performed by Shi et al. in the presence of chiral diphenylthiophosphoramide ligands and more efficiently, with binaphthylthiophosphoramide ligands. According to the nature of the ligand substituents, the corresponding allylation products were obtained in enantioselectivities of up to 98% ee, as depicted in Scheme 3.70. [Pg.150]
