Chips nutritional values

Licorice root Extracted from the root of an herb and used in the production of certain candies and drinks. Chips from the toot ate used tor brewing teas and making other home remedies. Little nutritional value. May sooth minor colds and sore throats. Licorice has a laxative effect for some people. [Pg.538]

Ethnic and/or Language Differences. The U S. population is composed of many national, cultural, and regional groups. These groups have a variety of dietary practices, many of which are excellent, that are part of their cultural traditions. However, some families may be unfamiliar with compositions and nutritional values of many foods available in local markets. Unfortunately they frequently adopt poor food practices and replace nutritious foods with ones that contain large amounts of fats, starch, and sugars, but few other nutrients. For example, substituting soft drinks for fruit juice or potato chips for potatoes increases the calories consumed and reduces the intake of essential minerals and vitamins. [Pg.891]
