Chemical skin peeling description

The full description of the deep chemical peel procedure is found in Chapter 8. Before the peeling, the subcision (subcutaneous incision) technique is used to free the fibrous bands from the base of the scars. For this purpose we use an i8-gauge 1.5-inch NoKor Admix needle (Becton Dickinson and Co). This needle has a triangular tip similar to No. 11 blade (Fig. 9.5). it allows smooth separation of fibrous cords. The needle is inserted through a skin surface, and its sharp edges are maneuvered under the defect to make subcutaneous cuts or incisions. The depression... [Pg.94]

A number of handbooks and monographs are available with detailed descriptions of a variety of plant products and their use (Shahidi and Naczk, 1995). From a more practical point of view, an interlaboratory comparison between six university and industry laboratories of 17 extracts of spices, teas, coffees, and grape skin and of tomato peel slurry established within the framework of an EU sponsored programme, would be of interest (Schwarz et al, 2001). In this collaboration, detailed chemical analysis of the content of different phenolic compounds is compared with six antioxidant assays for the 17 extracts including different extraction procedures. [Pg.340]

You will find detailed below descriptions of some elementary chemistry concepts that, along with a review of the chemistry of the skin, should help to explain the possible interactions between different peelings solutions and the skin. Finally, two new classifications of solutions for peehngs will be proposed, one according to their mechanisms of action (classification of L. Dewan-dre), and the other according to chemical parameters (structure of the molecula, pK , etc or classification of A. Tenenbaum). [Pg.1]
