Chemical domain

With regard to the chemical domain, the attitudes of chemical engineers were not as unambiguously favorable as might be expected at first (1 5). This is not to say that indifference or even hostility to chemistry were dominant features of chemical engineering, but the existence of these currents of... [Pg.60]

In an effort to formulate novel approaches to complex library synthesis, Porco and coworkers have prepared a hybrid oxime library (10) via chemical domain shuffling . In this approach, discrete fragments or chemical domains may be shuffled to prepare complex hybrid structures (Scheme 9). [Pg.169]

One should not gain the impression from the foregoing that redox excitation is restricted to reactions between aromatic radical ions in aprotic solvents. Studies of such reactions have indeed dominated research because the optical and electrochemical properties of many aromatics are well known, but there are numerous cases of redox excitation outside this chemical domain. For example, singlet oxygen seems to arise from oxidations of superoxide ion in acetonitrile [94]. Similarly, luminescent tris(2,2 -bipyridyl)ruthenium(II) can arise in at least three ways (1) from a kind of ion annihilation in CH3CN [95] or DMF,... [Pg.888]

One approach to developing QSARs has been the use of congeneric series of chemicals. While it is easy in the case of a congeneric series to identify the chemical domain, the congeneric series-derived QSAR is of little predictive value precisely because of the narrow structural domain on which they are based (Kaiser et al., 1999). Even within homologous series, efforts such as selecting derivatives with markedly different substitutents can be made to optimize molecular diversity and thus the domain. [Pg.272]

FIG. 13 Illustration of the buffer capacity measurement by means of an applied sinusoidal perturbation of the titrant. Basically, the method can be described by an electrochemo-electrical transfer function, parametrically dependent on the buffer capacity in the chemical domain. [Pg.390]

Preliminary filtering by structural class/scaffold (if desired for the extrapolation or the targeted exploration purposes, wider chemical domain can be covered compared to the training set of a model). [Pg.165]

It is increasingly apparent that there are exchanges and interactions between all the major chemical domains within the silicate earth. Communication between the upper mantle and cmst occurs at ridges, above mantle plumes, and at volcanic arcs. Geochemical smdies of OIBs, as well as seismic tomography of mantle stmcture beneath subduction zones demonstrate that there is... [Pg.1210]

Systematic explorations of the chemical domains made accessible by DAC techniques are still in their infancy. Most of the experiments on nitrogen systems compiled in Table I were done during the past five years. The scope of in situ experiments has been much enhanced by the availability of advanced synchrotron radiation sources. However, as yet for most of the systems of Table I crystal stractures have not been determined and the cell parameters need to be refined. Inelastic scattering and other analytical techniques now feasible for DAC use [9, 93, 143], also should be added to the standard repertoire. [Pg.218]

Chemical The chemical domains, involving dissolution and/or precipitation, might also require the four separate domains, D1 through D4. [Pg.441]
