Characteristics of additions

For applications having only moderate thermal requirements, thermal decomposition may not be an important consideration. However, if the product requires dimensional stability at high temperatures, it is possible that its service temperature or processing temperature may approach its temperature of decomposition (Tj) (Table 7-12). A plastic s decomposition temperature is largely determined by the elements and their bonding within the molecular structures as well as the characteristics of additives, fillers, and reinforcements that may be in them. [Pg.399]

The experimental evidence for the existence of the biradical as a genuine chemical intermediate comes from the detection of other products which are characteristic of addition reactions of such biradicals with various unsaturated molecules. [Pg.122]

Also shown are the current-voltage characteristics of additional smooth samples F and G solution 2M KI-0.05M /2 (air). Figure 7. Availability chromatic groups, allows to use them in addition as dyes of polymers [1], Proceeding from this, it was represented to us expedient, to compare thermal characteristics of additives and initial polymer, and also to define compatibility of these connections with fusion PETP. [Pg.48]

Only two types of positions are available for addition to p-xylene. The adducts are represented in Fig. le) and f). In each of these positions, different interactions are possible the ones characteristic of addition at C, for the 1-OH adduct, and the one... [Pg.257]

In each case, two atoms or groups of atoms add to adjacent atoms of the Jt bond. This is a common characteristic of addition reactions, which occur by a variety of mechanisms, depending on the reagent. [Pg.195]

A characteristic of addition polymerization is that monomers link together by forming new bonds without splitting off by-products. The repeating units have the same atoms as the monomers from which they were derived ... [Pg.660]

Adamantanethione adds to both electron-rich and -poor olefins upon excitation to the Sj level. The addition is nonstereospecific and regioselective (Scheme 3). Based on sensitization and quenching studies, the above addition has been estabhshed to occur via the triplet state (T,). The quantum yield of the isolated adduct is low (10 ). Upon excitation to Sj, adamantanethione adds to both electron-rich and -poor olefins to yield thietanes. These additions are stereospecific and regioselective (Scheme 4). Note that the characteristics of additions are different from the one occurring from the ntt triplet state. Based on sensitization and quenching studies and the nature of products formed, the reactive state has been identified to be the S2 state. [Pg.2190]
