Channel zig-zag

Scientists from Politecnico di Milano and Ineos Vinyls UK developed a tubular fixed-bed reactor comprising a metallic monolith [30]. The walls were coated with catalytically active material and the monolith pieces were loaded lengthwise. Corning, the world leader in ceramic structured supports, developed metallic supports with straight channels, zig-zag channels, and wall-flow channels. They were produced by extrusion of metal powders, for example, copper, fin, zinc, aluminum, iron, silver, nickel, and mixtures and alloys [31]. An alternative method is extrusion of softened bulk metal feed, for example, aluminum, copper, and their alloys. The metal surface can be covered with carbon, carbides, and alumina, using a CVD technique [32]. For metal monoliths, it is to be expected that the main resistance lies at the interface between reactor wall and monolith. Corning... [Pg.194]

Verver and van Swaaij [6,37] studied the oxidation of H2S by O2 producing elemental sulfur in a gas-flowing solids-fixed bed reactor. In this reactor, one of the reaction products, that is, sulfur, had been removed continuously by a flowing catalyst or adsorbent. The arrangement of the reactor was similar to that of a single-channel zig-zag column. The NaX zeolite embedded in a porous, free-flowing catalyst carrier had been used as a catalyst and sulfur adsorbent. The mass transfer... [Pg.592]

Where, M represents any alkali or alkaline earth cation, n the valence of the cation, x varies between 2 and 10, and y varies between 2 and 7 [1]. Unique connectivities of SBUs generate several recognized framework types of one dimension (ID), two dimensions (2D), and three dimensions (3D) for pore-caged, channeled, zig-zag chaimeled, etc. of zeolites originate by the scheme in Figure 12.4. [Pg.418]
