Description The feedstock (e.g. natural gas) is desulfurized, mixed with steam and converted into synthesis gas over nickel catalyst at approximately 42 bar and 800-850°C in the primary reformer. The Uhde steam reformer is a top-fired reformer with tubes made of centrifugal micro-alloy steel and a proprietary "cold outlet manifold," which enhances reliability. [Pg.62]

A Pyrex micro filter (Fig. XII, 2, 18) of 8 ml. capacity and furnished with a sintered glass disc is useful for the filtration of hot or boihng hquids. The long cylindrical tube reduces evaporation. The filter may be inserted into a test-tube with side arm (Fig. XII, 2, 13) and the filtrate collected in a centrifuge tube or semimicro test-tube receiver. [Pg.1108]

The sample preparation in LC analysis is as important as the chromatographic separation itself. The procedure will often require considerable skill copied with a basic understanding of chromatographic methodology. The analyst will need to have some familiarity with micro techniques including general micro-manipulation, microfiltration, centrifugation and derivatization. [Pg.195]

Removal of solid debris using a micro-centrifuge is an alternative technique to filtration. Although it requires special apparatus, the... [Pg.197]

In the case of the capillary blood, it is extremely important that the specimen not be allowed to stand for extensive periods of time before centrifugation. If the blood is to be transferred to the pH meter, then the collecting tube is sealed at both ends during transportation. It is then aspirated into the pH instrument as soon as practicable since one needs a smooth even flow in order to aspirate a specimen into the conventional micro pH meter. After the whole blood has been sampled for various purposes, it is important that the remaining blood be centrifuged promptly. If not, it will clot. Subse-quentially, centrifuging with a clot will tend to hemolyze the blood. Erythrocytes will adhere to the wall and as they are pulled down by the clot, they will be ruptured. Those who do not observe these precautions will find that it is rather difficult to obtain unhemolyzed blood. [Pg.108]

With the development of new instrumental techniques, much new information on the size and shape of aqueous micelles has become available. The inceptive description of the micelle as a spherical agglomerate of 20-100 monomers, 12-30 in radius (JJ, with a liquid hydrocarbon interior, has been considerably refined in recent years by spectroscopic (e.g. nmr, fluorescence decay, quasielastic light-scattering), hydrodynamic (e.g. viscometry, centrifugation) and classical light-scattering and osmometry studies. From these investigations have developed plausible descriptions of the thermodynamic and kinetic states of micellar micro-environments, as well as an appreciation of the plurality of micelle size and shape. [Pg.225]

BioRad produces Bio-Spin disposable polypropylene chromatography columns (Catalog No. 732-6008) that can be packed with up to 1.2 ml gel filtration media. Their micro Bio-Spin columns hold 0.8 ml media. Both are autoclavable columns that have snap-off column tips, polyethylene media bed supports, and fit standard centrifuge tubes. [Pg.607]

The resins were precipitated by flash centrifugation in a micro-centrifiige. The resins were washed 5 times with 1.0 mL of lysate buffer (tee Note 13). [Pg.187]

Protein solubilities of soy flour and extrudates in the following solvent systems were determined by the micro-Kjeldahl method ( 9). A portion (0.1 g) of finely-ground sample (No. 60 sieve) was extracted with 9.9 ml of solvent for 1 hr at room temperature followed by centrifugation and filtration. An aliquot of the supernatant was used for nitrogen determination. [Pg.56]
