Celazole PBI

Celazole PBI Technical Bulletins, Celanese Specialty Operations, P.O. Box 32414, Charlotte, NC 32414. [Pg.519]

PBI is highly resistant to deformation, and has low hysteresis loss and high elastic recovery. It exhibits ductile failure, and may be compressed to over 50% sttain without fracture. Celazole PBI has the highest compressive strength of any thermoplastic or thermosetting resin at 400 MPa. There is no weight loss or... [Pg.337]

Ketron), pol5dmide (Vespel SP-1), polyphenylsulfone (Radel R) and sintered polybenzimidazole (PBI) (Celazole). These materials were unfilled or neat without any flame-retardant additives. [Pg.84]

PBI polymer heads the list in TABLE XII. Since PBI is thermoplastic and if care is taken to avoid oxidative cross-linking, it will fuse at some temperature and pressure. On a scouting basis, Celazole (TM), high... [Pg.365]

As already mentioned, the acid-base blend concept was applied to intermediate-T fuel cell membranes by Hasiotis et al. [31, 42]. The blend membranes were composed of PBI Celazol (poly(2,2 -/M-phenylene-5,5 -bibenzimidazole, m-PBl, named as Bl) and polysulfone Udel sulfonated in the bisphenol A section (named... [Pg.64]

Manufacturer and trade name include the following PBI Performance Products Celazole . [Pg.342]

In a wide definition, PBI refers to a large family of aromatic heterocyclic polymers containing benzimidazole units. PBI with different structures can be synthesized from hundreds of combinations of tetraamines and diacids. In a specific way, PBI refers to the commercial product under the trademark Celazole , poly(2,2 -m-(phenylene)-5,5 -bibenzimidazole) (Fig. 4.1). In the context of PBI with different structures, this specific PBI is also named as meia-PBI because phenylene ring is meto-coordinated. As an amorphous thermoplastic polymer, the aromatic nuclei of PBI provide the polymer high thermal stabihty (glass transition temperature, Fg = 425-436 °C), excellent chemical resistance, retention of stiffness and toughness, but poor process-abihty [56-58]. Primarily used in textile fibers, the selection of poly(2,2 -m-(phenyl-ene)-5,5 -bibenzimidazole) as the commercial product was made on the basis of its... [Pg.243]

PBIs refer to a class of heterocyclic polymers consisting of benzimidazole linkages in polymer backbone. Poly(2,2 -m-phenylene-5,5 -bibenzimidazole) is almost the only commercial PBI (Celazole ). Its chemical structure is shown in Eigure 8.1. This polymer is often simply named as PBI or m-PBI (m refers to the meta-substitution positions of the phenylene moiety). [Pg.316]

Compression molded PBI stock shapes are commercially available under the trade name Celazole U-60. High temperature and high pressure are needed to compression mold PBI. PBI stock shapes can be further machined into specific parts. With the highest among thermoplastics at about 427°C... [Pg.200]

Celazole TU-60 is an unfilled blend of PBI-PEEK. Independently, PEEK is a high performance thermoplastic with excellent mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and thermal stability. The TU-60 blend has even better thermo-mechanical properties than PEEK, particularly at elevated temperatures. And TU-60 can be injection molded to make parts at lower costs than PBI. [Pg.202]

Celazole TU60 is a self-lubricating grade of the PBI-PEEK blend. It is an injection-molding grade like TU-60 but with added features of low... [Pg.202]

Celazole TF-60V is a glass-reinforced PBI/PEEK blend. It is an injectionmolding grade with properties similar to TF-60C except that TF-60V is a much better thermal and electrical insulator. It is ideally suited for applications that require high strength, lower deformation, and excellent insulation under high temperatures. [Pg.205]
