Carbonyl clusters with metal salt

Other papers of general interest deal with several new metal carbonyl cluster complexes molecular approaches to heterogeneous catalysis and a new perspective for the synthesis of metal-carbonyl clusters the reactions of carbonyl clusters with strained ring thioethers and the use of tri(m-sulphonatophenyl)phosphine salts as water solubilizing agents for carbonyls and carbonyl hydrides 2. [Pg.135]

The field of surface-mediated synthesis of metal carbonyl clusters has developed briskly in recent years [4-6], although many organometallic chemists still seem to be unfamiliar with the methods or consider themselves ill-equipped to carry them out. In a typical synthesis, a metal salt or an organometallic precursor is brought from solution or the gas phase onto a high-area porous metal oxide, and then gas-phase reactants are brought in contact with the sample to cause conversion of the surface species into the desired products. In these syntheses, characteristics such as the acid-base properties of the support influence fhe chemisfry, much as a solvenf or coreactant influences fhe chemisfry in a convenfional synfhesis. An advanfage of... [Pg.214]

Au-B bonds are also present in metal clusters with intersticial or peripheral boron atoms. An example is the cluster [Fe4(CO)12BH(AuPPh3)2], which was prepared by reaction of [AuCl(PPh3)] with the carbonyl iron dihydride. With the oxonium salt the reaction proceeds to the trinuclear gold derivative [Fe4(CO)12B(AuPPh3)3] (357).2063-2070 The ruthenium analogues and complexes with other ligands have been also synthesized as, for example, (358).2071-2079... [Pg.1025]

In those catalysts, the metal species were deposited in the form of salts or carbonyl clusters. Further, the modifications of the oxide surface with the multinuclear cobalt carbonyl cluster Co3(CO)9—CR (R = CH3 or Ph) have been reported (68). [Pg.46]

Important pioneer work in the synthesis of polynuclear metal carbonyls was made by reduction of simple metal salts in the presence of carbon monoxide or similar ligands. The best results are obtained in general for the most stable clusters such as triruthenium, triosmium, tetrarhodium, and tetrairidium dodecacarbonyls. Thus, heterogeneous pyrolysis reactions of metal halides with carbon monoxide in the presence of halide acceptors such as Cu or Zn under relative drastic conditions of temperature and pressure can be used for preparing these types of three and tetranuclear carbonyl clusters ... [Pg.121]

Reaction of metallates with cationic complexes. The synthesis of one of the largest metal carbonyl cluster structurally characterized up to date, [Ni38Pt6(CO)4sH2] ", has been obtained from the condensation reaction of the metallate [Ni6(CO)i2] with the platinum(II) salt PtCl2. [Pg.126]
