Hot Dip Tin Coating of Steel and Cast Iron. Hot dipping of tin [7440-31 -5] has been largely superseded by electrolytic coating techniques, especially for sheet. However, hot dipping can be the method of choice for complex and shaped parts. Very thin layers of tin are extensively used to passivate steel used for canned goods. III. How can Good Laboratory Practice be Introduced in a Test Facility ... 

If you have a sample of canned fruits or vegetables, then open the can and drain the juice into a beaker. You will need 125 mL of canned goods juice or 225 mL of a water sample. Use as many cans as necessary. 

You should do this part in duplicate, which will require 50 mL of the juices of canned goods or 100 mL of a water sample. If you intend to do steps 26 to 32, those will require the same amount of sample. 

Pipet 25.0 mL of a canned goods juice sample or 50.0 mL of a water sample into a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. 

If you are titrating the juices from canned goods, they most likely contain iron and aluminum. If you are not sure if your sample contains interferences, then a simple way to test is to titrate a small amount of the sample and notice the endpoint color change. If it is sharp, then no interferences are present, but if it is not sharp or the solution becomes cloudy, then interferences are present and must be removed. We will assume that interferences are present.
