Calcium chloride crosslinking

A somewhat different interpretation of the relationship of aldehyde fixation with the masking of antigens with calcium-protein complexes is reported by Shi et al. (1999a). According to this point of view, although calcium-induced modification of the protein molecule does occur and can be demonstrated immunohistochemically, it is independent of formalin-induced crosslinking. Addition of calcium chloride can reduce or alter immunostaining, but it is not related to the pH of this solution. [Pg.122]

Crosslinking addition of a calcium salt, such as calcium citrate or calcium chloride, causes crosslinking of the alginic acid polymer resulting in an apparent increase in molecular weight. Films crosslinked with triphosphate (tripolyphosphate) and calcium chloride were found to be insoluble but permeable to water vapor. Drug permeability varies with pH and the extent of crosslinking. ... [Pg.22]

A study published by Dutta presented PVA/PEG/calcium chloride (CaClj) hydrogels by y-radiation crosslinking for appUcations as wound dressings (Dutta 2012). Both PEG and CaCl2 contributed to the enhancanent of hydrogel strength. [Pg.63]

The effect of metal compounds on HC1 evolution has been noted by many authors. Thus, Hartmann (12, 13) pointed out that lead and di-butyltin compounds did not affect dehydrochlorination rate, but ferric salts and zinc chloride accelerated it. Rafikov and co-workers (22) reported that lead and calcium soaps promoted crosslinking. These investigators do not seem to have considered the hypothesis that dehydrochlorination is accelerated as a consequence of crosslinking. [Pg.49]

Yaszemski et al. (1995) incorporated sodium chloride as a pore forming component into a composite formulation also including /3-tricalcium phosphate (yS-TCP) or a calcium phosphate matrix. The mixture was crosslinked with VP to form a biodegradable bone cement. The mechanical properties of the composite were studied over several varying factors in a fractional factorial design. These mixtures... [Pg.104]
