The extrusion process takes unvulcanized rubber and forces it trough a die, which results in long lengths of rubber of a dehnite cross-section. There are two general subdivisions of this technique one extrudes simple products and the other builds products by extruding the mbber onto metal or fabric reinforcement. Products from these techniques include tire tread, cable coating, and rubber hose.

Wire and cable coating dies are used in the extrusion process for primary insulation of single conducting wires as well as the jacketing or sheathing of a group of wires already insulated electrically, for mechanical strength and environmental protection purposes. 

The REX process is normally carried out in two steps, with the first step occurring at 180-200 "C. The mixture is passed through another REX reactor for mixing, and then through a final shaping REX reactor to complete the water curing reaction. The final cross-linked product (Sioplas ) is used as a wire or cable coating. 

The whole spectrum of the different extrusion processes is used to form blends, i.e., production of profiles, sheets, tubes, wire and cable coating. The products find use in diverse industries electrical, appliances, automotive, etc.
