Accurate control of cylinder temperature during extrusion of PES is necessary. Normal cylinder temperatures should be 280-320 C. For optimum processing performance and low torque loads on the screw drive system, it is important to set the rear zone at a higher temperature to allow sufficient heat to be transferred to the polymer by conduction, PES resin should be preheated. The rear zone temperamre must not exceed a limitation that may result in premature melting of the polymer and bridging problems that result in erratic feeding.
