Studio City has a branch of Leonor s (12445 Moorpark St., Unit C, Studio City, a 818-762-0660), a vegetarian Mexican joint that sports a mean soy chicken. The national chain of healthful breakfast establishments, Good Earth Restaurant, has a branch in Studio City (12345 Ventura Blvd. 12345C, b 818-506-7400) as well as in Northridge (19510 Nordhoff St., b 818-993-7306). Samata Vegetarian Of India (12321 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, b 818-761-7696) serves up vegetable curries... [Pg.221]

Sephadex is a three-dimensional network in which soluble dextran chains are crosslinked by glycerol ether bonds or reaction with epichlorohydrin in alkahne solution. Dextran is a branched-chain polysaccharide composed of o-glucose units which are jointed mainly by means of a-l,6-glycosidic bonds and is branched by 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-glycosidic linkages. Sephadex is stable to chemical attack by, for example, alkali and weak acids and can be heated without any change in properties. [Pg.26]

Polymers are molecules comprising a large number of identical (or nearly identical) atomic groups (monomer units) linked by a sequence of covalent bonds into linear chains. Polymers with more complex topology comprise linear-chain segments jointed in various regularly or randomly branched stmctures. Typically, the number of monomer units N vary from 10 to 10 but may reach (e.g., for hyaluronic acids or DNA) the order of 10 -10 . Polymers in solutions can assume a large number... [Pg.48]
