Bragg s equation

XRD data for selected samples are shown in Table 1. The interplanar spacings, doo2 and doo4, were evaluated from the positions of the 002 and 004 peaks respectively by applying Bragg s equation. The crystallite size Lc along the c-axis was calculated from the 002 peak using the Sherrer formula... [Pg.415]

In x-ray scattering experiments characteristic interferences are generated by an ordered microstructure [12], A typical interference pattern arises due to specific repeat distances of the associated interlayer spacings d. According to Bragg s equation d can be calculated by ... [Pg.129]

Thus, the application of the Bragg s equation to the scattering peak at20 = 18 and applying a correction of 20% yields an interchain distance ca 6A. As a function of the degree of sulpho-nation and relative humidity, this distance appears to be constant. [Pg.357]

An alternative grid, shown in red, defines an alternative set of planes that also contains all equivalent atoms, and under different conditions, also satisfies Bragg s equation. Such planes, which may be constructed in an endless number of ways, all have one property in common - they make rational intercepts on the axes of the unit cell. The fractional intercepts are defined as a/h, h/k, c/l in terms of the unit cell constants and the integer Miller indices, hkl. [Pg.235]

This combines Bragg s equation and Laue s three equations. [Pg.461]

The dispersion of the spectrum produced by a grating is described by the grating equation (which is analogous to Bragg s equation) ... [Pg.70]

The next peak is at 14.066° and d = 6.2911 A. Note that as 9 increases, d decreases, a resnlt of the inverse relationship of these quantities in Bragg s equation. [Pg.6412]

For deriving d values from an ED diffraction pattern, Bragg s equation (Eqn. 4) can... [Pg.299]

By definition, h, k, and I are divided by their largest common integer to be Miller indices. The vector from Bragg s Equation (26) points in the plane normal direction parallel to d but with length Ijd. We can now write in terms of the vector d ... [Pg.10]

Comparing Equation (32) with Equation (13) proves the identity of Ahu and the reciprocal lattice vectorh Bragg s equation, Equation (26), can be restated as ... [Pg.10]

Bragg s equation gives an easy way to understand XRPD. Powder X-ray diffraction data collected on crystalline samples gives information about peak intensities and peak positions. Peak intensities are determined by the contents of unit cells, and peak positions are closely related to the cell constants. Interplanar spacing is a function of Miller indices and cell constants. Therefore, if the cell constants are known for a crystalline compound, peak positions corresponding to Miller indices can be obtained from the Bragg s equation the wavelength. A, is machine-specific. The determination of cell parameters in structure determination of XRPD pattern is a reverse process to find cell constants from peak positions. Here, note that the cell constants for a unit cell are not affected by the contents in the unit cell. The contents in the unit cell have effects on the peak intensities. [Pg.224]

Unit cell dimensions are obtained from measurements of 20 values of several Bragg reflections for which the indices A, k, and / are known. Values of 2Qhu are measured as accurately as possible and, since the wavelength K, of the radiation used is known, a value ofd may be found by Bragg s equation. The value of d i... [Pg.30]

The lattice constant is "d" (from Bragg s Equation). Note that we have used a 1-dimensional structure so as to show its perturbation effect upon a single electron. In Part 2a 2b, we have the same free electron function and linear lattice as given in Part la b above, except that we have arranged the lattice in a 3-dimensional pattern. In Part 3a b, we show the 3-dimensional structure effects on the allowed zones when occupied by several electrons in the crystal. Note that an allowed zone has resulted. Thus, we conclude that the effect of structure on free electrons... [Pg.361]
