Boosted power

ISA Integrated Starter Alternator (sometimes referred to as Integrated Starter Generator - ISG), which provides up to 12 kW of boost power, automotive functions, and accessory loads that allow the engine to stop when the vehicle stops. 

Parallel hybrid provides up to 30 kW of boost power, plus ISA functions. 

The Japanese companies Toyota and Honda have assumed the lead in the introduction of hybrid electric cars to the world market. Both companies have chosen the parallel architecture with a conventional, but smaller, petrol engine than is fitted to the equivalent ICEV and an auxiliary battery to provide boost power. The first such cars were the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight, which were released in 1997 and 1999, respectively. Subsequently, in 2003, both companies brought out improved models, namely the Toyota Prius THS 11 and the Honda Civic hybrid. These are both mid-sized family saloon (sedan) cars. An RBMK is a graphite-moderated, water-cooled system. The Chernobyl reactor that exploded in 1986 was an RBMK. Fourteen RBMKs are in operation. Several problems are inherent in RBMKs. If several pressure tubes rupture simultaneously, the force will raise the reactor lid, releasing radioactive fission products. An RBMK is susceptible to power instabilities. Increased boiling can boost power levels, creating an uncontrolled reaction. The emergency core-cooling, fire protection, and electronic control-and-protection systems in the older RBMKs do not meet international standards.
