Boord olefin synthesis

Boord olefin synthesis. Regiospecific synthesis of olefins from aldehydes and Grignard reagents. [Pg.173]

Other references related to the Boord olefin synthesis are cited in the literature. ... [Pg.466]

The 2-heptene was the pure grade material purchased from Phillips Petroleum Company, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. This olefin is comparable to material prepared by a Boord synthesis. The N-bromosuccinimide was obtained from Arapahoe Chemicals, Inc., Boulder, Colorado. The benzoyl peroxide was used as received from Distillation Products, Rochester, New York. The carbon tetrachloride was reagent grade, from J. T. Baker Chemical Company, Phillipsburg, New Jersey. [Pg.9]

The bromination of a-chloro ethers proceeds readily and represents the second stage in the Boord synthesis of olefins (method 21) ... [Pg.55]

The reader will be particularly interested in the portion of the Boord-Lovell paper devoted to the synthesis of low molecular weight hydrocarbons in the various series of hydrocarbons such as the paraffins, the olefins, the cycloparaffins, and the aromatics. Some of our best information on the engine knocking characteristics of various hydrocarbons has come from the work of this project. The lessons learned, and the relation between structure and knock, are very ably brought out in their paper. Another important phase of this work is the study of blends of hydrocarbons with respect to knocking. This study is an important part of the future program of the project. The paper is concluded by a list of 27 literature references pertinent to the work of APIRP 45. [Pg.348]

Syntheses with l-alkoxy-l,2 dihalideg Boord synthesis of olefins... [Pg.477]

Condensation reactions, such as the Boord synthesis, are good methods for converting aliphatic aldehydes [Eq. (3)] to substituted olefins via the preparation of dibromoethyl ethers, Grignard coupling, and elimination of bromoethoxy zinc. (See the referenced text for more detailed equations.)... [Pg.17]
