Most of the publications listed in Section 1.6.1.1 have also appeared in English, nsnaUy after a short delay, but nevertheless describe the most recent state of the technique at their publication date. The following books published after and including 1994 have not appeared in German. [Pg.11]

Pachaly, P. (ed) Simple Thin-layer Chromatographic Identification of Active Ingredients in Essential Drugs, Gesundheitshilfe Dritte Welt, German Pharma Health Fund e. V, ECV, Aulendorf 1994. Brochure for the identification and purity testing of pharmaceutical agents in the Third World. [Pg.11]

Sherma, 1., B. Fried (ed) Handbook of Thin-Layer Chromatography, Chromatographic Science Series, Vol. 71, Marcel Dekker, New York 1996, ISBN 0-8247-9454-0. [Pg.11]

In this textbook, theoretical aspects as well as a large number of practical examples, arranged by substance classes, are described. This second edition contains literature references up to and including 1995. [Pg.11]

Knight, David M. Natural science books in English, 1600-1900. New York Praeger, 1972. [Pg.496]

Introduction. The existing books in English on detonation and explosion by Taylor (See Vol 2 of Encycl, p XII), Cook (See Vol 1, p Abbr 75), Penney St Mullins (See Abbt in this Volume), and Zel dovich St Kompaneets (See under Abbreviations which precede this introduction), do not give a comprehensive description of all subjects related to detonation and explosion. In most cases there is too much mathematics in them and no clear definition of items. Since the alphabetical indices in the books of Taylor, Cook and Penner Mullins are not very complete and since the book of Zel dovich 8t Kompaneets has no index at all, it is difficult, in some cases to find the desired items... [Pg.137]

Ichiro Sunag awa is the Principal of the Yamanashi Institute of Gemmology and Jewellery Arts, and Emeritus Professor at Tohoku University. He has written or edited a number of books in English or Japanese, including Morphology of Crystals (1988) and Handbook of Crystal Growth (2000). His contribution to the scientific literature is considerable, with over 200 papers in English and more than 300 in Japanese. [Pg.297]

Meanwhile, in California, a sometime Stanford history professor, Dr. David Hoggan, was working on what became the first book in English on the same subject. Apparently, he began his labors in 1960 and by 1968 had mailed copies of the manuscript to friends and others he knew would be in-... [Pg.579]

Finally, we list a number of books that contain collections of articles by particular authors or collections of separate articles grouped round a particular theme. Several of these contain important reviews. For example, until the publication of Coates, Green, and Wade, the book (A184) edited by H. Zeiss was probably the best book in English on organometallic chemistry and as such it had considerable influence. A number of similar authoritative, up-to-date summaries of various aspects of organometallic chemistry appear as published lectures at major conferences (Section E). [Pg.468]

This book is written mainly for petroleum professionals. Because overwhelming parameters are needed to describe a chemical EOR process, it is not practical to measure every one of them therefore an effort has been made to collect, synthesize, and suimnarize available data, especially Chinese information that is inaccessible in Western literature. An effort has also been made to cover comprehensively the fundamental theories and practices related to alkaline (A), surfactant (S), and polymer (P) flooding processes, especially alkaline-surfactant-polymer (ASP) flooding that has barely been discussed in any enhanced oil recovery book in English. [Pg.623]

I was pleased to accept the publisher s offer to produce an EngUsh version of the book. The introduction of international study courses leading to a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Germany and other countries makes it necessary to provide students with books in English. I am particularly grateful to Dr. S. Hawkins for his competent translation of the German text with valuable advice and additional material. [Pg.520]

There are two very interesting and critical reviews of rubber friction. The first by Schallamach is brief, closely argued and aimed at the specialist the second by Bartenev (in Russian) is of a more elementary nature. There is also a useful book in English by Moore but this is in the nature of an expository student textbook rather than a critical review. A somewhat more critical version is by Moore and Geyer ° include a tan 6 term. [Pg.16]

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Publisher and his colleagues who have worked on the translation, editing and publication of my book in English. [Pg.285]
