Books bindings

The market for PPVC film and sheet is only slightly less than for wire and cable insulation. Uses are as diverse as seepage barriers, factory doors, inflatables, baby pants, car trim, covering materials for book bindings and document cases and shower curtains. UPVC film has also been widely used for packaging of food, particularly for shrink-wrap purposes, but this market has been subject to some substitution by polypropylene.

Starch mixed with such polysaccharide gums as guar, xanthan, and locust bean are used as food thickeners, especially when a surfactant is added.1055 A composition of guar gum coated with starch has been patented for decreasing levels of cholesterol and glucose in blood.1057 Starch blended with achrodextrin, gum arabic, and sodium silicate is used as an adhesive for book binding.1058... 

The book bindings will be destroyed by dipping the books in water, and the pages will stick together after the books dry.

Normally, an activation step is followed by other steps that lead to functionalization or other transformation of the substrate. Products and Uses A conditioner, humectant (moisturizer), and cleaner used in fabric softeners, tobacco moisturizer, synthetic sponges, paper products, corks, book-binding adhesives, cosmetics, rug cleaners, upholstery cleaners, floor polish, furniture polish, as disinfectant, and antifreeze.
