Plasters blister

Blistering Plaster. Infuse 3 drachms powdered cantharides in 4 ounces acetic ether for 8 days decant and evaporate as in No. 5084 then add 4 drachms resin, and spread on court plaster. 

Master, n. (medical) plaster pavement, paving patch, -kafer, m. Spanish fiy, blister beetle. 

Cerate of Spanish flies may be spread for blisters by means of a spatula slightly warmed. Perhaps the best substance to spread it upon is ordinary adhesive plaster, spreading the cerate so that a margin of half an inch is left uncovered. This will serve to keep the blister in its place. 

The preforming of foil based materials also occurs in certain strip packaging operations and for the tropicalised blister packs (i.e. a conventional blister is covered on the plaster (blister) side with shaped foil tray), thus enclosing the whole pack in foil. 

Vesicant A blistering application or plaster a vesicatory an episoastlc. Vesicle A small and more or less circular, elevation of the outer layer of the skin, containing a clear watery fluid. 

Blister or Canthaiides Plaster. Melt together 7i ounces each yellow wax and suet 6 ounces lard, and 3 ounces resin when mixed, remove from (be fire, and, a little before they concrete, sprinkle in and mix thoroughly 1 pound very finely powdered canthariues. 

Strong Blistering, or Canthari-des Plaster. Mix at a heat below 212 Fahr., 4 ounces Venico turpentine, 3 ounces each of burgundy pilch and cantharides, 1 ounce bces -wax, -J ounce finely powdered verdigris, and 2 drachms each of powdered mustard and black pepper. 

Management of Blisters. Spread the plaster thinly on paper, or linen, and rub over it a few drops of olive oU. In this way the blister acts speedily, and with less irritation than usual. 

If left on the skin for more than 15 to 30 minutes, plasters made from mustards can cause blistering that may be accompanied by suppurating, poorly healing ulcerations and necrosis (Wichtl 2004). 

Breath-ability - the humidity resident in walls and plaster must be allowed to be released otherwise blistering will result. Acrylic based coatings can be formulated to be micro-porous.
