Biting and chewing

One of our dogs was very allergic to the [lawn chemical] treatment. In the spring when they would start to fertilize, his paws would just get raw and bleed. We would have to take him to the vet two or three times a week and they would do these whirlpool treatments and finally we realized it was the lawn chemicals. So, for a couple of days after we had the grass done we would put these little booties on the dog. Otherwise it would really hurt him, and he would just bite and chew at his paws and they would bleed all over the place. We felt so badly for him. [Pg.1]

Strain rate. For most foods, rheological and fracture parameters are time scale dependent. Generally, the effective strain rate in the mouth during biting or chewing is of the order of 2 s-1, and the same rate should be applied in the test. [Pg.726]

Both male and female coyotes, C. latrans, are attracted to volatile aldehydes from sheep liver and estrous urine of female coyotes. The most active compoimds were octanal, nonanal, decanal, and imdecanal. The aldehydes released sniffing and rub-rolling, but little lick-chewing and biting. Therefore, these compoimds are better suited to attract coyotes to traps than to toxicant-delivery systems that rely on the latter behaviors (Scrivnereta/., 1984). [Pg.411]

Furthermore, sub-projects addressing individual organizational units should be put in place, to cover the whole company in subsequent steps. Focus and continuous prioritization are also key in order to achieve higher impact due to their cross-functional nature, SCM projects tend to raise countless issues, and companies should avoid biting off more than they can chew . [Pg.294]

Tooth type and position are often noted with a combination of numbers and letters, depending on the species. Each tooth has a lingual side, adjacent to the tongue, and a labial surface, which is closest to the lips (if there are any). The posterior teeth are at the back of the mouth, and the anterior to the front. The occlusal surface is the area where opposing teeth meet during chewing or biting. [Pg.139]
