As a preliminary survey, various C4 amino acids were exogenously administered to intact cells of Chlamydomonas to see whether these compounds could compete with the photosynthetically assimilated (given as sodium [Pg.58]

These results indicate that the C4 backbone of methionine is a precursor to the polar group of DGTS, probably its C4 moiety. The incorporation of the amino group of methionine to DGTS has not been tested because of technical difficulty. [Pg.59]
