BU are very adaptable, and can tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions. There are limits, however, and exceeding these resnlts in BU changing forms or states to be able to survive particularly harsh conditions. Of environmental qualities to which the BU must adjust, those of temperature, water availability, and food scarcity are the three that seem to be the most likely to cause major BU accommodations.
