Biological response modifiers defined

The term immunomodulators has been employed to define agents or approaches that will modify the relationship between tumour and host by modifying a host s biologic response to tumour cells, with an enhanced therapeutic benefit. The cascade of the cellular immune system is irutiated by the uptake and processing of antigen by the macrophage. [Pg.366]

These studies were initially established to validate the use of immunoassays for carcinogen-modified DNA with human samples. The original goals were to define a dose-response for DNA adduct formation in humans under controlled conditions, and to explore a possible relationship between adduct formation and observable biological consequences such as tumor remission. [Pg.306]
