Biochemical and Physiological Response to High Content of Molybdenum in Biogeochemical Food Webs 

In the Ankawan biogeochemical province, where Mo content in soil, plant and fodder exceeds significantly the relevant Cu content, different diseases of stomach-intestinal tract and wool quality worsening were monitored. These symptoms are similar to those characteristics for molybdenum toxicity (molybdenosis). 

This disease was not monitored in the Kadzharan biogeochemical province, where the pasture grasses are enriched by copper in comparison with molybdenum. The Cu excess protected the animals from high Mo intake. 

The alteration of purine exchange in animal and human organisms 

The effects of natural biogeochemical Mo enrichment has been significantly increased due to the development of molybdenum ore exploration and enhancement of natural biogeochemical migration of this trace element during the 1970s.
