Batteries for Critical Diagnostic Procedures

This section describes the types of batteries and their performance capabilities for critical medical diagnostic applications. Three distinct diagnostic systems will be described (1) microgastrointestinal systems, (2) implantable gastric stimulation system, and (3) a self-regulating response to a therapeutic drug delivery system. 

Implantable gastric stimulation (IGS) system-. The second system is implanted under the patient s abdomen and is designed to stimulate the stomach for the treatment of obesity. 

Self-regulating responsive therapeutic drug delivery system-. This particular system essentially is a biosensor-drug delivery system that eliminates the need for telemetry and human in the loop. The system is enclosed in a microcapsule.
