Permanganate, barium

Hardy [906] has proposed that the steps for the decomposition of Ba(Mn04)2 are [Pg.193]

Rienaecker and Werner [907] suggest that Ba3(Mn04)2 is the initial decomposition product, by analogy with results for KMn04. Isothermal a—time curves for vacuum decomposition at 413—463 K were sigmoid [Pg.193]

The effects of pre-irradiation [908], although still marked, were less for a given dose than those observed for the alkali metal permanganates. The other Group IIA permanganates are obtained as hydrates. [Pg.194]

In a related reaction, primary aromatic amines have been oxidized to azo compounds by a variety of oxidizing agents, among them Mn02, lead tetraacetate, O2 and a base, barium permanganate, and sodium perborate in acetic acid, tert Butyl hydroperoxide has been used to oxidize certain primary amines to azoxy compounds. [Pg.1519]

The crude residue is a mixture of barium permanganate with barium chloride and it must be analyzed as follows ... [Pg.36]

The preparation of starch blue in aqueous solution with iodine-iodide mixtures is the most common procedures. According to the method of Pals56 starch (10 mg) of water (5 mL) is boiled for 5 min and blended with 7.6 X 10 5 mol/L (5 mL) of an aqueous solution of iodine and 4.27 x 10 5 mol/L (5 mL) of an aqueous solution of KI. The complex is precipitated by the addition of an aqueous solution of KF (10 mol/L). The precipitate is centrifuged (5000 rpm for 10 min) and washed with aqueous KF (1 mol/L). The Vanino reagent (barium permanganate) also precipitates iodized starch.57 The resulting complex is stable and has a defined stoichiometry. A similar procedure was described by Meyer and Bemfeld.58 Chinoy... [Pg.266]

Barium permanganate (BaMn04) is also used for the oxidation of 1°- and 2°-alcohols to aldehydes and ketones, and no overoxidation is observed. [Pg.273]
