Barium bromate, decomposition

Cobalt Bromate, Co(Br03)2.6H20, is obtained by double decomposition of barium bromate with cobalt sulphate. On concentrating the filtered solution the salt crystallises out in red, octahedral crystals, which are readily decomposed by heat.1... [Pg.46]

Nickel Bromate,2 Ni(Br03)2.6H20, may be prepared by double decomposition of barium bromate and nickel sulphate solutions. It crystallises in unstable octahedra which are green in colour. From its solution in aqueous ammonia, alcohol precipitates the diammoniate, Ni(Br03)2.2NH3. [Pg.114]

BARIUM BROMATE (13967-90-3) A strong oxidizer. Reacts with water, forming bromic acid. Explosive decomposition in elevated temperatures above 500°F/260°C. Violent reaction with reducing agents. Incompatible with combustible materials, aluminum, arsenic, carbon, copper, metal sulfides, finely divided metals, organic substances, phosphorus,. sulfur. Aqueous solution is incompatible with organic anhydrides, acrylates, alcohols, aldehydes, alkylene oxides, substituted allyls, cresols, caprolactam solution, epichlorohydrin, ethylene dichloride, glycols, isocyanates, ketones, maleic anhydride, nitrates, nitromethane, phenols, vinyl acetate. [Pg.150]

Barium bromate, Ba(Br0s)2-H20, is a stable, colorless crystalline material that may be dehydrated without decomposition. It is soluble in cold water to the extent of less than 1 g./lOO ml. but is approximately seven times as soluble at 100°. It is insoluble in most organic solvents. Barium bromate upon long standing may develop a slight odor of bromine. [Pg.21]

The bromates are quite soluble, but the solubilities vary greatly from one element to another. Because the bromates have a very great temperature coefficient of solubility, they are exceedingly valuable in fractional crystallization processes. They may be prepared by dissolving the hydroxides in bromic acid or by double decomposition of the sulfates with barium bromate (synthesis 17). [Pg.34]

P. T. Cleve 133 prepared thorium chlorate by double decomposition of barium chlorate and thorium sulphate, followed by evaporation under reduced press. The resulting soap-like deliquescent mass is very soluble in water. Thorium bromate behaved similarly. [Pg.357]

Oxygen may also be obtaiued by heating the chlorates of other metals, notably barium,1 calcium,2 strontium,3 lead,4 and silver,5 or by decomposition of metallic bromates and iodates.6... [Pg.23]

Sahoo MK, Bhatta D (1992) Effect of barium(2+) doping on the thermal decomposition of cesium bromate. Thermochim Acta 197 391-397... [Pg.87]
