Bang

This distinction between 7 s and 7svo seems first to have been made by Bang-ham and Razouk [33] it was also stressed by Harkins and Livingstone [34]. Another quantity, introduced by Bartell and co-workers [35] is the adhesion tension A, which will be defined here as... [Pg.354]

Chemists are satisfied how atoms of the different elements could form from the initial enormous energy of the big bang explosion, without, however, the need to concern themselves with the reason for its origin. Atoms subsequently can combine into molecules, which in turn build increasingly complex systems and materials, including those of the living systems. This is the area of interest for chemists. [Pg.35]

Both emission and absorption processes rely on the background radiation, which is present throughout the universe and which has a wavelength distribution characteristic of a black body and a temperature of about 2.7 K. This radiation is a consequence of the big bang with which the universe supposedly started its life. [Pg.119]

The operator took about one to two minutes to open the valve halfway very soon afterward, there was a loud bang as a 6-in. cast-iron valve on a branch (unused and blanked) failed as a result of water hammer. The operator was able to climb out of the pit, but later died from his burns, which covered 65% of his body [17J. Figure 9-11 explains the mechanism. [Pg.190]

At present, the most widely accepted theory for the origin and evolution of the universe to its present form is the hot big bang . > It is supposed that all the matter in the universe... [Pg.1]
