Conveyor baffles

Conveying-screen diyers are fabricated with conveyor widths from 0.3- to 4.4-m sections 1.6 to 2.5 m long. Each section consists of a sheet-metal enclosure, insulated sidew s and roof, heating coils, a circulating fan, inlet-air distributor baffles, a fines catch pan under the... [Pg.1197]

Tray Classifier A hybrid like the screw-conveyor classifier, the tray classifier rakes pulp up the sloping bottom of a tank while solvent flows in the opposite direction. The solvent is forced by a baffle to the bottom of the tank at the lower end before it overflows. The sohds must be rugged enough to stand the stress of raking. [Pg.1676]

Processing the carbon separately with internal baffles in SCWO reactor to ensure sufficient residence time alternatively, decontaminating carbon to 5X using one of several processes (e.g., heated discharge conveyor or A1 filter cake dryer) Implementation of improved filtration technique and verification of correct SCWO feed composition by sampling and analysis... [Pg.146]

Using the Blake-Kozeny equation, the screw conveyor reactor can be modeled as rotating equipment in which the fluid is moved by screw rotation. Although 10 small horizontal cylindrical baffles exist in the screw flights, the interaction between the screw and baffles can be ignored. For this case, the rotating reference frame was used instead of the inertial reference frame. [Pg.736]

Figure 2 shows the flow pattern in the upper part of the screw conveyor reactor along the vertical panel of baffles also included a three-dimensional view of the flow pattern. It was found that the flow direction above the screw varies from the flow direction below the screw. The fluid between the two screws had the same flow direction. In most of the upper screw, the flow was downward above the screw, some upward flow was found. [Pg.736]

Conveying-screen dryers are fabricated with conveyor widths from 0.3- to 4.4-m sections 1.6 to 2.5 m long. Each section consists of a sheet-metal enclosure, insulated sidewalls and roof, heating coils, a circulating fan, inlet air distributor baffles, a fines catch pan under the conveyor, and a conveyor screen (Fig. 12-51). Table 12-23 gives approximate purchase costs for equipment with type 304 staimess-steel hinged conveyor screens and includes steam-coil heaters, fans, motors, and a variable-speed conveyor drive. Cabinet and auxiliary equipment fabrication is of aluminized steel or stainless-steel materials. Prices do not include temperature controllers, motor starters, preform equipment, or auxiliary feed and discharge conveyors. These may add 75,000 to 160,000 to the dryer purchase cost (2005 costs). [Pg.1386]

An example of electrostatic deposition of coatings in the fluidized bed is illustrated in Fig. 3.34 [61]. Part 1 is transported on the conveyor belt 2 over apparatus 3 for vibrovortex deposition. The deposition bath contains powder composition 4 below which the bath is blocked by baffle 5, which is permeable to the powder particles. The baffle is connected to a high-voltage source 6 and... [Pg.220]

The single open directional moving baffle plate is installed at the side of shorter trough, in order to improve the efficiency of coal loading, while at the same time the fixed baffle plate is installed at one trough ledge of scraper conveyor. See figure 8 shown. [Pg.83]

The baffle di.sc comprises a plain disc welded to the conveyor hub somewhere between the feed zone and the cake discharge. On countercurrent decanters the usual location for the disc is at the foot of the beach. However, more recently, the disc has been seen situated in several positions on the beach from bottom to top. Ideally there should be a minimum distance, say one pitch, between the disc and the feed zone. This is to avoid turbulence from incoming feed at the periphery of the disc. [Pg.99]

In a dry solids decanter, there is generally a restriction, for example a baffle disc, against which the conveyor compresses the cake. Sometimes the cake discharge aperture forms the restriction or acts as an extra restriction in series... [Pg.177]

When operating properly in DS mode, a decanter will be virtually full of cake, from end to end, and from bowl wall to pond surface. The conveyor will be pushing the cake towards the discharge ports against a restriction, a baffle or a narrowing of the conveyor pitch, or against the nip between conveyor hub and the beach. [Pg.270]
