Mechanism of Action A tetracycline antibacterial that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes. Cell wall synthesis is not affected. Therapeutic Effect Prevents bacterial cell growth. Bacteriostatic. 

Inhibition These medications, such as penicillin, interfere with bacterial cell growth, resulting in limiting bacterial growth or eliminating bacteria.

Antimicrobial test systems have been used to a limited extent for the detection of antitumour activity.
