Backward advantages

Another factor that can be important in the design of evaporators is the condition of the feed. If the feed is cold, then the backward-feed arrangement has the advantage that a smaller amount of liquid must be heated to the higher temperatures of the second and first stages. 

If many zones are present in the sample simultaneously, it may be advantageous to move the ampul (or heaters) slowly by one zone spacing, and then rapidly backward to catch the next zone. By such a reciprocating action, many zones can be moved continuously through the sample without a bank of heaters longer than the sample. 

The reaction ratio of a straight-blade impeller is poor when compared with a backward-curved impeller. The radial (paddle) fan has the advantage that when the air contains much dust, the straight blades remain cleaner than curved blades. 

The PECD measurement clearly takes the form of a cosine function with an amplitude given entirely in terms of the single chiral parameter, b. It therefore provides exactly the same information content as the y asymmetry factor dehned above [Eq. (8)]. Experimental advantages of examining the PECD rather than the single angular distribution /p(0) are likely to include some cancellation of purely instrumental asymmetries (e.g., varying detection efficiency in the forward-backward directions) and consequent improvements in sensitivity. 

Would there be any advantages in using backward feed in this case Heat losses to the surroundings are negligible. 

The backward curved fan has blades that are curved backward against the direction of rotation. They are useful with light dusts, fumes, and condensates. They operate at higher speed than the forward curved fans and hence tend to be noisier and somewhat more costly, but, as a compensatory advantage, they are responsive to situations of varying resistance without loss of efficiency. 

Currently, karma s rules are formulated in an if-then format. A rule may have multiple conditions, conclusions, and actions, karma takes advantage of both the forward and backward chainers for derivation of the three-dimensional receptor model. For example, two types of rules, generic and specific, can be defined en irically from the results of QSAR as well as from molecular structure. 

However, in order to achieve these objectives a good interpretation of corporate business needs into achievable R D objectives is essential. In some cases a supplier of a raw material, intermediate or component may choose to forward-integrate their business into production of the finished product. In other cases a manufacturer may wish to backwards-integrate into the production of the raw material(s) required for its current product(s). In either case it is obvious that in order to achieve success a company must make products available to its customers with useful functional properties and at a price that allows cost-effective use of that product in the customer s own products. That is, the product must give the customer s products a competitive advantage. 

In 1983, SPICE 2G.6 was released and remained the industry standard for many years. Motivated by the increased use of UNIX workstations and superior programming tools, SPICE 2 was converted into the C programming language and released as SPICE 3. Although SPICE 3 is not entirely backward compatible with SPICE 2, the new features far outweigh this drawback. SPICE 3 has a technical advantage of being readily modified because it is written in C. SPICE 3 also offers more and improved device models and analysis functions. 

An important advantage of the GRASSHopper device is the fact that after a complete MAH cycle of three orientations, the MAH device can be re-initialized by rotating backward to the initial orientation. For this reason, a number of flexible input and output lines to the sample chamber of the GRASSHopper device exist and allow a rotation of the fixed-bed reactor about an axis in the magic-angle while the system is gas-tight (Fig. 16). In the reported experiments 66), the 120° hop time... 

As a companion to the M-equation it is sometimes advantageous to consider the adjoint or backward equation... 

The unit cell approach has the following advantages prediction of the overall elastic moduli in terms of the phase moduli knowledge of the stress distributions within phases (relevant to the prediction of failure mechanisms) usable formulae in which can be substituted either the phase moduli and concentration or, by working backwards from the overall moduli, from which they can be deduced. From this point of view analytic expressions such as those of Van Fo Fy and Savin are of more use than numerical data (though presumably these could be fitted for comparison purposes by polynomials or other means). 

In general, backwards forwards looping has fallen out of favor in the sampler design community, probably because it does not offer enough advantages to be worth the small extra effort to implement.
