B-Zip proteins

GBF-1, GBF-2 and GBF-3 three Arabidopsis b-Zip proteins that interact with the light-regulated rbcS-lA promoter... [Pg.289]

Several unique structural motifs have been characterized for specific transcription factors. Each of these proteins has a distinct recognition site (DNA binding domain) that binds to the bases of a specific sequence of nucleotides in DNA. Eour of the best-characterized stractural motifs are zinc fingers, b-zip proteins (including leucine zippers), helix-tum-helix, and helix-loop-helix. [Pg.286]

In general, Zn homeostasis is maintained by three families of proteins (a) met-allothioneins (MT) that quickly bind, sequester, and hold Zn after influx into the cytoplasm, (b) Zrt-Irt-like (ZIP) proteins that likely mediate Zn influx into the cell, and (c) zinc transporter (ZnT) proteins that mediate efflux of cytoplasmic Zn to the extracellular space or sequestration in intracellular organelles. [Pg.674]

Histone H3 (Til) phosphorylation occurs during mitosis by Dlk/ZIP kinase (Dlk Death-associated protein (DAP)-like kinase, ZIP Zipper interacting protein kinase) (Preuss et al, 2003) (Table 1). Histone H3 at Serine 28 is phosphorylated by Aurora B kinase at mitosis and this phosphorylation coincides with chromosome condensation (Goto et al., 1999, Goto et al, 2002) (Fig. 2), (Table 1). Histone H3 (S28) phosphorylation initiates at prophase, whereas histone H3 (SIO) phosphorylation initiates during the late G2 phase (Hendzel et al, 1997). [Pg.327]
