Axial composition

Substitution of the stresses from Eqs. (5.86) to (5.87) into Eq. (5.84) and division by ei yields a prediction for the axial composite tensile modulus ... [Pg.478]

A model for transient simulation of radial and axial composition and temperature profiles In pressurized dry ash and slagging moving bed gasifiers Is described. The model Is based on mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, and kinetic and transport rate processes. Particle and gas temperatures are taken to be equal. Computation Is done using orthogonal collocation In the radial variable and exponential collocation In time, with numerical Integration In the axial direction. [Pg.359]

It is important to note that the important difference between the cross section averaged ID axial dispersion model equations (discussed in the previous section) and the simplified 2D model equations (presented above) is that the latter is valid locally at each point within the reactor, whereas the averaged one simply gives a cross sectional average description of the axial composition and temperature profiles. [Pg.666]

An axial composition profile for a component having a shape that does not depend on axial position. This occurs during uptake of a component that exhibits a favorable isotherm and no dispersion. Mathematically, this occurs when = h)i /niJ (C j,). [Pg.1121]

Region of the axial composition profile in which the composition varies from that of the feed (toward the feed end) to that of the initially present fluid (toward the product end). Despite its name, the shape of this zone can depend on mass transfer resistances, dispersion, or equilibrium effects. For uptake with a favorable isotherm, the width remains essentially constant beyond a certain axial position, leading to the term constant pattern front. In that case, the effects are exclusively due to intraparticle- and/or film-diffusion resistances. [Pg.1122]

An axial composition profile (or breakthrough curve) having a shape that relaxes gradually as the front moves along the axis. This is characteristic of desorption for a system that has a favorable isotherm. Axial dispersion exhibits a similar effect but may affect uptake and release. [Pg.1122]

The axial force equilibrium condition requires that the average axial composite stress 01 be given as... [Pg.311]

A complex multicomponent system based on PMMA and PA6 was developed and processed as fibers by co-axial electrospinning [153]. The co-axial composite nanofibers with a core-shell stmcture embedded Ti02 nanoparticles, as well MWCNTs. When Ti02 nanoparticles were added to the shell, the fibers exhibited a remarkable ability to absorb UV radiation, but a lower transmittance in the visible light range. Using the Ti02 nanoparticles for the core, the effects were reversed. [Pg.130]

An alternative type of downhole mud motor is the mud turbine, (multistage axial flow turbine) which directly drives the bit. The tool consists of an upper section containing the turbine blades and lower section with bearings. As mud is pumped through the upper section the blades are turned. Turbines are designed to rotate at higher speed than the displacement motor. The higher rotation speed requires diamond or composite bits. [Pg.48]

Composite transducers will replace conventional transducers in applications where the improvement of test sensitivity, signal to noise ratio and axial resolution are mandatory. It must nevertheless also be noted in connection with the broadband feature that though composite probes have a specified nominal frequency, the echo signals allow no echo amplitude... [Pg.711]

Carbon—carbon composites for rocket nozzles or exit cones are usually made by weaving a 3D preform composed of radial, axial, and circumferential carbon or graphite fibers to near net shape, followed by densification to high densities. Because of the high relative volume cost of the process, looms have been designed for semiautomatic fabrication of parts, taking advantage of selective reinforcement placement for optimum thermal performance. [Pg.5]

Packed Red Reactors The commonest vessels are cylindrical. They will have gradients of composition and temperature in the radial and axial directions. The partial differential equations of the material and energy balances are summarized in Table 7-10. Example 4 of Modeling of Chemical Reactions in Sec. 23 is an apphcation of such equations. [Pg.702]
