ABSTRACT The paper presents a decision support system (DSS) for evaluation of risk pipeline risk. The system is able to support risk assessment and risk ranking of sections of natural gas pipelines. The DSS uses an architecture based on a data base, a model base and user interface. The model base has been built based on Multi-Attribute Utility Theory. The multi-attribute approach analysis risks in three dimensions of impact. These dimensions are human, financial and environmental impact. The way in which the model translates decisionmakers preferences into risk management decisions is highlighted. The paper presents the DSS, including some dialogue modules of the system based on real appUcations. [Pg.91]

A first approach to testing, ASTM D 1094, is to create, using a potassium phosphate reagent, a separation between two layers, hydrocarbon and aqueous. The degree of separation of the two phases is estimated by attributing a grade from 1 to 3 and the appearance of the interface by five levels of observation 1, lb, 2, 3, and 4. The Fourier sum, involving the three dimensional FFT, does not currently run efficiently on more than perhaps eight processors in a network-of-workstations environment. On a more tightly coupled machine such as the Cray T3D/T3E, we obtain reasonable efficiency on 16 processors, as shown in Fig. 5. Our initial production implementation was targeted for a small workstation cluster, so we only parallelized the real-space part, relegating the Fourier component to serial evaluation on the master processor. Aldehydes are substantially more reactive than ketones, as can be seen by comparison of the rate data for benzaldehyde and acetophenone. This relative reactivity is characteristic of nearly all carbonyl addition reactions. The reduced reactivity of ketones is attributed primarily to steric effects.
