Asbestos containing material thermal system insulation

Asbestos-containing building material (ACBM) means surfacing ACM, thermal system insulation ACM, or miscellaneous ACM that is found in or on interior structural members or other parts of a school building. 40 C.ER. 763.83. [Pg.584]

Activities Involving removal of thermal system insulation (TSI) and surfacing ACM and presumed asbestos-containing material (PACM). [Pg.611]

Class II asbestos work means activities involving the removal of ACM which is not thermal system insulation or surfacing material. This includes, but is not limited to, the removal of asbestos-containing wallboard, floor tile and sheeting, roofing and siding shingles, and construction mastics. [Pg.867]

Presumed Asbestos Containing Material means thermal system insulation and surfacing material found in buildings constructed no later than 1980. The designation of a material as PACM may be rebutted pursuant to paragraph (k)(5) of this section. [Pg.869]

Employers of employees who clean up waste and debris in, and employers in control of, areas where friable thermal system insulation or surfacing material is accessible, shall assume that such waste and debris contain asbestos. [Pg.879]

B. Your employer is required to determine whether you are being exposed to asbestos. Your employer must treat exposure to thermal system insulation and sprayed-on and troweled-on surfacing material as asbestos exposure, unless results of laboratory analysis show that the material does not contain asbestos. You or your representative has the right to observe employee measurements and to record the results obtained. Your employer is required to inform you of your exposure, and, if you are exposed above the permissible exposure limit, he or she is required to Inform you of the actions that are being taken to reduce your exposure to within the permissible limit. [Pg.918]

In bnildings bnilt before 1980, treat thermal system insulation and sprayed-on and troweled-on surfacing materials as ACM, unless properly analyzed and fonnd not to contain more than 1 percent asbestos. [Pg.212]

In regard to thermal system insulation (TSI), a visual determination that the TSI is fiberglass, foam glass, or rubber instead of asbestos containing material is permitted. Such a visual determination may be made only by a CIH or accredited inspector. [Pg.516]
