Szpilman et al. used his methodology to prepare yingzhaosu A, a natural endoperoxide isolated from extracts of Artabotrys uncinatus, a traditional remedy for treatment of malaria in China [148]. [Pg.35]

In retrospect, it is not surprising that the peroxide-bridged compound (154), isolated from Artabotrys uncinatus, also has antimalarial activity (197). Because peroxides of this kind are likely to be formed from a variety of precursors in dried plant material (see below), there may well be many more antimalarials of this kind to be found. [Pg.887]
