Applications of Monolithic Refractories

Monolithic linings are a relatively recent development and consist of unshaped refractory products [3]. There are two basic types of monolithic linings castable refractory and plastic refractory. 

The following sections outline the applications of monolithic refractories, and the types of refractories that are used in specific parts of the operation [4]. However, the type of refractory used and even the kind of materials used in a particular application will differ from plant to plant.
