Antiobesity preparations,

Interactions of MAOIs with other sympathomimetic drugs are well known. The increased neuronal stores of NE represent a booby-trap hazard that can easily be triggered by indirectly acting adrenergic agents such as the amphetamines found in many antiobesity preparations. Drugs such as ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, and phenylephrine are potentially more dangerous because of their ready availability to the public in over-the-counter medications such as cold medicines and nose drops. [Pg.611]

Aloe and aloin are extensively used as active ingredients in laxative preparations, often with other cathartics such as buckthorn, cascara, and senna belladonna extracts are often included to lessen griping. Aloin is also used in antiobesity preparations. [Pg.26]

J )-Mandelic acid 3 is a useful chiral synthon for the production of pharmaceuticals such as semi-synthetic penecillins, cephalosporins and antiobesity agents and many methods have been reported for the preparation of the optically pure material. A method to deracemize the racemate which is readily available on a large scale was developed by Ohta et al. using a combination of two biotransformations. The method consists of enantioselective oxidation of (S)-... [Pg.60]

By inserting hydrophobic antiobesity compounds into the liposomal bilayers, marine phospholipids would boost the effect of the inserted hydrophobic antiobesity compounds. When marine phospholipids are served as liposomal drinks, they would be more effective than adding into solid foods or feeds. These facts were borne out by Okada et al. (2011). They carried out the following experiment. Brown seaweed (Undaria pinnatifida) lipid containing fucoxanthin (UL) encapsulated into scallop midgut gland phospholipids (PL) liposomes were prepared to see the promotional effect of marine phospholipid liposome on antiobesity. Animal model used in their study was 3-week-old male diabetic-obese... [Pg.41]
