Ankle clonus

Side effects typically effect the CNS, appearing within 2 weeks of therapy and disappearing after drug withdrawal. They include somnolence, headache, tremor, dysarthria, vertigo, confusion, nervousness, irritability, psychotic states, paranoid reactions, catatonic reactions, twitching, ankle clonus, hyperreflexia, visual disturbances, paresis, and seizures. Large doses or concomitant ingestion of alcohol increases the risk of seizures. Cycloserine is contraindicated in individuals with a history of epilepsy and should be used with caution in individuals with a history of depression. 

A patient experienced postoperative delirium which lasted for nearly 2 days and included agitation, confusion, uncontrolled limb movements, abnormal ocular function, hypertension, pyrexia, brisk reflexes, ankle clonus and raised creatinine kinase. She had been taking paroxetine before surgery and during surgery she was given morphine and ondanset-... 

Hyperreflexia and ankle clonus are characteristic in grade III HE, but like the other motor signs, it can be observed also in patients with minimal HE. 

Hepatic myelopathy is characterized by a rapidly progressing spastic paraparesis without sensible deficits or bladder dysfunction. Brisk tendon reflexes and increased tone of the lower extremities are the predominant findings. Plantar reflexes may be flexor, even in patients with ankle clonus. Usually the patients are bound to a wheelchair or bedridden within months. 

A 45-year-old man developed nausea, vomiting, and leg shaking within 5 minutes of insufflating heroin. He had mild distress, anxiety, hyper-reflexia, and ankle clonus. His potassium was 5.8 mmol/l and creatine kinase activity 296 U/ml. Urine testing was negative for strychnine but positive for clenbuterol, morphine, 6-MAM, and codeine.
