Animal glue liquid

Adhesives have been made from a wide variety of plant and animal products, sometimes in combination. The most common form of animal glue is largely composed of collagen, which is usually acquired by boiling animal skin, tissue, and bones. The resultant liquid is reduced by further heating until it reaches the desired viscosity. [Pg.150]

Although in recent years animal glues have been replaced substantially by the newer synthetic adhesives, particularly the vinyl and acrylic emulsions, large quantities are still sold in dry and stable liquid forms for furniture assembly or repair and paper bonding applications. [Pg.473]

Defoamers are based on ->fatty acids, - fatty alcohols and - fatty acid esters and are available in paste, solid or liquid form. - Fatty acid ethoxy-lates, - fatty alcohol ethoxylates and - fatty acid ethanolamides with only a few EO are also used. Aids for creping paper control the adhesion of the sheet to the creping device. Among others, animal glues (- glue, animal) are used. [Pg.214]
