ANGUS Chemical Company is the only basic manufacturer of technical-grade TRIS AMINO (Tromethamine). However, ANGUS and numerous processors offer recrystallized, high purity grades of this alkanolamine for biomedical appHcations. 

The common name vitamin D is used throughout the pharmaceutical kidustry for simplicity. The trivial name calciferol has also been used extensively with the prefix ergo- and chole-, which kidicate vitamin D2 (2) and vitamin (4), respectively (see Steroids). Vitamin D2 was originally named calciferol in 1931 by Angus and co-wotkets (2). Historically, a number of substances were referred to as vitamin D and were distinguished from one another by a subscript numeral, eg, vitamin D2, vitamin D, etc.

The explosion and fire (May 1,1990) caused eight deaths (including a vice-president and site manager), 120 injuries, extensive damage to buildings in the area, and evacuation of an entire small town. The cause of the explosion, at the Angus Chemicals Plant, was the blowout of a compressor line on the nitroparaffin unit. 

One shortcoming of Schild analysis is an overemphasized use of the control dose-response curve (i.e., the accuracy of every DR value depends on the accuracy of the control EC o value). An alternative method utilizes nonlinear regression of the Gaddum equation (with visualization of the data with a Clark plot [10], named for A. J. Clark). This method, unlike Schild analysis, does not emphasize control pECS0, thereby giving a more balanced estimate of antagonist affinity. This method, first described by Lew and Angus [11], is robust and theoretically more sound than Schild analysis. On the other hand, it is not as visual.
