Analogues of Trisaccharides

Four papers have dealt with the preparation of compounds which have been prepared as analogues of sialyl Le. Their structures are illustrated 10, and 13. The m- as well as the p-linked isomer of the last of these were also prepared. 

The chitobiosyl analogue 14 of the D-allosamine-containing compound allosa-midin has been shown to be an inhibitor of two chitinases.  

Digoxin is a steroidal glycoside of the P-l,4-linked trimer of 2,6-dideoxy-D-ribo-hexose. Periodate oxidation and reaction of the product with oo-aminocar-boxylic acids led to compounds 15 which were assessed in enzymic and immunological studies.

The 3H chemical shifts, coupling constants, temperature coefficients, exchange rates and inter-residual ROEs of the hydroxyl protons of various synthetic type II trisaccharides, analogues of (3-D-Galp-(l - 4)-p-D-GlcpNAc-(l - 2)-a-D-Man-(l - 0)(CH2)7CH3, were reported and interpreted,8 assisted with molecular dynamic simulations, to deduce key information on the conformational behavior of these important molecules in aqueous solution. 

The trisaccharide a-Colp-(l->2)-(3-D-Gal -(l->3)-(3-D-GlcpNAc, a colitose analogue of the Lewisd (precursor) blood group antigen is part of the O-chain in the LPSs of Salmonella enterica serogroup 050.211 213...

Methylstreptothricin D has been isolated from a Streptomyces strain (SNU 8810-111). A mutant strain of S. chartreusis has produced a complex of antibiotics, chrymutasins, which are analogues of chartreusins, with the same disaccharide or trisaccharide chains of fucose and/or digitalose, but with modified aglycons. ... 

Reviews have appeared on the synthesis of aminoglycoside antibiotics, and on the formation of new aminocyclitol antibiotics by mutants of amino-cyclitol-producing organisms fed with aminocyclohexanol or related subunits. The structures of eight minor components of the nebramycin complex elaborated by Streptomyces tenebrarius have been elucidated besides neamine and related pseudo-disaccharides, the new components are pseudo-trisaccharides related to kanamycin B, and the 3 -hydroxy analogue of the principal component of the complex, apramycin (see Vol. 10, p. 130). ... 

Synthetic work has been reported on compound 9 which is a hydrolytically stable analogue of GM3 ganglioside lactone. Compound 10, which contains a trisaccharide having a hydrojgrlamine linking unit, and which is a derivative of the carbohydrate domain of calicheamicin, has been reported, and carbohydrate fragments of esperamicin Aj which also contain this type of bonding, have likewise been described. ...
