Silica amino-functionalised

Different chitosan-based catalysts are compared in Table 3. The reactions were performed at 70°C due to the thermal stability of the catalyst. The first ones focus on the influence of the drying procedure in comparison with an uncatalyzed reaction and a known heterogeneous catalyst (Table 3, entries 1-5). Lyophilized chitosan (Cl) does not display any activity when the aerogel is as efficient as the functionalised silica (C3). This result illustrates the accessibility to the amino groups of chitosan in its aerogel form. [Pg.188]

To date, typical SPE materials are based on silica gel or highly cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene (PS-DVB). The former is functionalised with distinct chemical groups to yield various sorbents with non-polar or polar characteristics. Non-polar materials are modified with alkyl groups of different chain length (C18, C8, C2), while polar sorbents have cyano-, amino-, or diol-bonded groups. Ion-exchange phases have either anionic or cationic functional groups. [Pg.426]

A related series of 5-substituted-2-amino-oxadiazole compounds have also been prepared in a one-pot procedure using a microwave-assisted cyclisation procedure (Scheme 6.26)164. Rapid preparation of the pre-requisite ureas from the mono acyl hydrazines and various isocyanates (or the isothiocyanate) was easily achieved by simple mixing. The resulting products were then cyclo dehydrated by one of the two procedures either by the addition of polymer-supported DMAP and tosyl chloride or alternatively with an immobilised carbodiimide and catalytic sulphonic acid. Purity in most cases was excellent after only filtration through a small plug of silica but an SCX-2 cartridge (sulphonic acid functionalised - catch and release) could be used in the cases where reactions required additional purification. [Pg.159]

The distance between the groups (about 0.70 nm) is fixed by using biphenyl-4,4 -dialdehyde as the template [4,86]. Fig. 4.4. Ibuprofen molecules have been encapsulated in mesoporous MCM-41 type-silica functionalised or not by amino groups. They have been characterised by and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. ... [Pg.321]

Functionalising these types of silica with amino groups is important for potential application in both biomolecular separation and immobilisation. In the separation of proteins by techniques such as ion exchange chromatography, amino surface groups are a commonly used functionality. For immobilisation of biomolecules, the surface amino group can be used as a first functional group to which other chemical species can be attached and consequently used to immobilise biomolecules [9],... [Pg.592]
