Aluminium carbide chloride

Mercuric chloride is dissolved in a very dilute aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid and an equal weight of aluminium carbide added, mercury dimeth5d soon separates. ... [Pg.31]

The general methods for the production of the alkali metals are (1) Electrolytic processes involving the electrolysis of (a) the fused hydroxide, or (b) a fused salt— chloride, nitrate, cyanide, etc. (2) Chemical processes involving the reduction of hydroxide, or carbonate, or other salt with carbon, metal carbide, iron, calcium, magnesium, aluminium, etc. W. Spring 5 claims to have reduced a little potassium chloride by passing hydrogen over the salt at a red heat. [Pg.447]

The volatile silicon monoxide which is first produced from silicon dioxide reacts with carbon in the upper, cooler part of the furnace to form silicon carbide. This reacts with carbon dioxide to form elemental silicon. The furnace is operated continuously and is rotated slowly. It is emptied of metallic silicon, in the form of compact chunks, every 1 to 2 hours. The natural impurities, mainly iron and aluminium, constitute about 2% of the product and are conducive to the synthesis of organic silicon chlorides. [Pg.13]

The company s current ethylene capacity is 530 000 tonnes a year. Its ABS capacity is 50 000 tonnes per year. It also has a 100 000 tonnes per year LLDPE facility and has recently added another 120 000 tonnes per year PE facility. Its annual output of PVC, PS and PP are 27 000, 8300 and 12 000 tonnes, respectively. Shijinggou Integrated Chemical Plant of Jilin Chemical Industrial Group, an affiliate of the company, is a major polyoxymethylene (POM) producer in China with a POM capacity of 5000 tonnes per year. Other major products include aniline, sulphuric acid, fuming sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, concentrated nitric acid, caustic soda, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, calcium carbide, sodium bicarbonate, refined aluminium chloride, liquid sulphur dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, sulphur, commercial liquefied chlorine, ammonia,... [Pg.96]
