Alpha-ethyltryptamine

Homologation of the a-methyl group of a-MeT results in compounds with central activity but activity that may be different from that of a-MeT. Alpha-ethyltryptamine, for example, has been used in man as an inhibitor of MAO. However, hallucinogenic activity was not evident (see refs. 24 and 106 for more details). [Pg.70]

Ken Kesey has reputedly said that alpha-methyltryptamine, in oral doses of ca. 30 mg, peaks in about 12 hours, produces a trip similar to psilocybin, but nicer, and is the "Rolls Royce of psychedelics," but others find it unpleasant. Alpha-ethyltryptamine produces minimal LSD-type effects at 150 mg orally, but effects of... [Pg.55]
